Mary Magdalene - better known as Maybel - was born December 23, 1883 in Van Meter, Iowa. She was five years old when her family moved to the homestead in Nebraska. She married Francis Quigg on February 17, 1909, at the Holy Rosary Mission in South Dakota. They had six children. Francis died January 26, 1964. Mabel died March 3, 1966.
My dad had an Aunt came from Ireland, they came to Nebraska near Gordon, that is why my Dad Frank Quigg came to Nebraska. His parents were John and Mary Alwell Quigg. The mother died in childbirth, also the baby. Frank was four, and a brother four years older. The dad was walking his two little boys and dropped dead with heat stroke. Records say it was only a few weeks after his wife's death. A priest took them to an orphanage. At 10 years a widow lady took him to do her chorse. He worked and saved mney to go to Nebraska where his Aunt lived. He maiden name was Quigg, her married name was Cassedy. He worked one year at Cassedys then went to a ranch & worked. He was in Nebraska eight years before he and Mabel (Mother) were married. They bought land near where the Cassedys lived.
